Within Balboa Park

San Diego hosted a Panama Exhibit just like San Francisco did back around 1915. Unlike San Francisco that demolished most of the buildings, San Diego preserved theirs. And they stand today here in Balboa Park.
This is one of them and is now the San Diego Museum of Art. We went here to see one of the exhibits, the Stickley Collection. Photos were not allowed of the collection, unfortunately. I am a big fan of Mission Furniture and the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century.

The drive is called El Prado and is lined with the beautiful buildings.

This is called the Old Globe Theater. We came here one night to see the performance of Amadeus, the story of one man's determination to upset Amadeus Motzart's career, brought on by jealousy. There are three theaters in this square, one in the round, one a traditional theater and the one we attended, an outdoor theater (next picture). The performance was fantastic and being outdoors here in San Diego at night was wonderful!

Here is the entrance to the outdoor theater. Before the performance, we were treated to appetizers and an open bar, brought to us by a Gay Collective that Steve, my honey, found out about, and this was the reason we chose to come on this particular evening. We met and chatted with some really nice people.

Some detail on one of the buildings. They can be quite ornate!
