Yippy! Look What Came Today [5th installment]
"If you want to talk with Sally, you'll have to go through my husband. He's her care giver," Maggie whispers as she tries to cover up her previous raspy tone. "CECIL! CECIL!" "Sweety, this is Janet Myjdgrs from Adult Protective Services." Cecil tells Janet that this is the wrong house, that Sally lives up at the top of the hill. "I'll walk you up there," he said. "Oh, Thank You" she responds. "You're with Adult Protective Services? Is Sally ok? can I help you with anything?" he tries to drag out any information he can. "No thanks, I am just here to speak to Sally." At Sally's house, Cecil let himself in, as always, this time with Janet also, introduced Sally to Janet Myjdgrs. Janet turned to him and said "Thank you so much, can I speak to her alone, please." "Wouldn't you like me to stick around?" he asked. "No I would like to speak to her privately" Janet replied. This drove Cecil nuts, he could not just walk away without control of Sally, or what Janet might say. They could see him hovering just outside from the windows, interrupting with anything he could think of. His nervousness was obvious to both Sally and Janet. Sally said later that she loved "watching him squirm." At the end of the interview Janet told Sally, "with all these things they may have done, it really does not sound good, but Sally you are clearly a capable adult. Therefore, there's nothing I can do. It is out of my hands." Sally then said, "Well ok, but I'd like you to meet my new neighbors, I'll call them , they can be right over. They are the ones that called you." Shortly the boys arrived, heard about Janets greeting with Maggie, told Janet their concerns, and finaly they thanked Janet for her time, but most of all, thanked Janet for her unintended visit with the Blatzs.
Sally continues telling the Burlyboys more about the things Cecil and Maggie have been up to. One of which is having Sally pay to have a safe installed in their home to keep Sally's stuff safe for her, or them. The burlys tell Sally that she needs to receive her own mail and ask for her things to be returned. They all go to buy Sally a locking mailbox, install it, replacing the old one, and the next day it is broken into. They go to the post-office to inform the postmaster. He takes a report and says that he will speak to the letter-carrier. Days later the letter-carrier tells her boss that mail that used to go Sally's house is now addressed to the Blatz's house, but still has Sally's name on it. They changed her mailing address on some mail! But the postmaster assures that the post-office can and will fix this, but he admits to Sally and the boys that Cecil may be able to do this if his name is now on everything of hers.
What had just been found out was bad enough but, one morning the burlyboys were trying to call Sally and figured she was having her hair done at her hair dresser's, which was close enough for her to drive to on her own; she was comfortable with driving in the morning. As the boys were leaving their own house they saw Sally's car out in front of her house. They tried to call her again on their cellphone. No answer. They turned up her road quickly and ran in to check on her. She was inside, wondering what's going on, what's up? "Your phone! We have been calling all morning!" "It hasn't rang," she said. They checked the line and it was severed just below the edge of the table! She did go to the hairdresser earlier that morning, but hadn't needed the phone all morning, "I didn't know it wasn't working." The boys repaired the line and the same thing happened a few days later, out at the pole. The phone company's line person, it was a woman, a woman that Sally recognized from the phone company which she had work for all her life, said that it definitely was cut.
The sheriff was called at once and he came out to take a report. Again the boys were there to help Sally get over telling on her so-called friend Cecil. Sally gave a full story of the things she suspected of Cecil. One of the boys asked the sheriff if he could, accidently go to the Blatz's house, knock on the door, and ask for Sally Neathery, him in his uniform would be a great effect, as Janet Myjdgrs from Protective Services was. He said that that would not be right, that he could not do that, but he did want to know where the Blatz's house was. Down the hill the first house, was the answer. He informed them that he accidently already did do that, on his first try to find Sally's house.
When one turns on Sally's road, to get to her house, you drive diagonally across the front of her property, just as you get to the property line, you need to make a sharp right turn up to the top of the hill, or you go straight to the Blatz's. This had just happened twice and must have frightened the Blatzs, which probably saved Sally's life, because the boys figured the worst was about to happen. "I think Cecil and Maggie were about to do her in!" one said to the other. "Do you think that they would go that far? What do you think they have done?" "I don't know, but cutting her phone line twice! That does not look good, and breaking into her mailbox!" "Yeah there is something that they don't want her to see." "I just wish we knew what it was." "We don't know for sure that they cut her phone line, or broke into her mail, but they sure have gotten nasty." "How are we going be neighbors with people like them?" "I don't know!.............I think I am going to walk up to get the mail." It's a short hike up to the street to get the mail, and it doesn't take very long, so the burlyboy was only gone ten minutes, as he likes to browse through the letters, magazines, but mostly junk mail, on his way back. One item caught his eye; a real estate flyer. "There is a house for sale near us, look at this! Do you know which house it is?" "THIS IS CECIL AND MAGGIE'S! THEY'RE MOVING!"
